Our continuous journey towards excellence takes another leap with a series of innovative projects designed to provide comprehensive care and support for our community. Below, we highlight several initiatives that stand as testimony to our unwavering commitment to health and well-being.
- Transportation Solutions: We are planning Shuttle Transport Service in the UK and UAE that will facilitate stress-free commuting for parents visiting NICUs and pregnant women visiting antenatal clinics. Our key focus will be to monitor the number of parents/ pregnant women utilizing the service and to provide on-board education through Kindles or books equipped with engaging content. This initiative is not just about increasing accessibility, but also about improving the shuttle service experience by gauging parental stress levels and collecting feedback for continuous improvement. The introduction of this service comes with a mindful consideration of the budget, ensuring the costs of shuttles, maintenance, and Kindle provisions are optimized for maximum efficiency.
- University Collaborative: Endeavors In partnership with the likes of Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), we are developing proposal for neonatal nursing certificate training programs, aiming to boost the competency of nursing graduates both locally and globally. As part of this project, we seek to establish MBRU as a Centre of Excellence, a regional nucleus for innovative research that will notably improve outcomes for at-risk pregnant women and preterm babies. Furthermore, a state-of-the-art training app will be developed to offer remote capacity-building programs and monitor health personnel performance. Additionally, we are proposing pragmatic trials to explore non-invasive methods for improving care for preterm babies post-discharge from NICU, specifically targeting the prevention of Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP).
- Strengthening Psychosocial Support Networks in the UK and UAE: Understanding the crucial role of emotional support in healthcare and our experience in developing countries, we are introducing a Hospital/NICU-based Parent Support Programme that comprises support groups, psychoeducation sessions, and one-on-one counselling in the UK and UAE. Together with these, a comprehensive preemie kit will ease the transition from hospital to home for new parents. Moreover, a digital support platform is in the works, featuring a user-friendly app for NICU parents with resources on preterm care, milestone tracking, and virtual counselling sessions.
- Innovative Kindle Program in UAE: The Kindle based storytelling initiative is poised to be a game-changer, providing a comforting presence for parents and their babies in NICUs. We aim to improve parent-child bonding by donating Kindles and developing pertinent digital content for storytelling, medical information, and resource guidance. This program will include thorough training for NICU staff and an evaluation framework to ensure its efficacy in reducing parental stress.
As we roll out these initiatives, our goal remains clear: to create a nurturing environment that promotes the best possible outcomes. We pledge to make every penny count, with prudent budget implications considered at every juncture to ensure the sustainability and success of each project. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to transform the landscape of care and support for our families.
